Inside a Businesses.ie Company Report: Sources, Preparation and Limits

Understand how Businesses.ie prepares company reports, what CRO sources and extracted figures mean, and how to use AI-assisted analysis responsibly.

A Businesses.ie company report is an independent PDF that organises available Irish company information for review. It is designed to make the public record easier to work with—not to replace an official filing, certify a supplier or manufacture financial information that a company has not disclosed. This guide explains how we prepare the report and what to look for when you receive it.

The three layers: source records, extraction and interpretation

These layers should not be confused. Company registration information and filings originate in public-source records. Extraction turns accessible documents into structured information. AI-assisted interpretation can then summarise the available material and highlight potential questions. A conclusion produced at the third layer is not a statement made by the CRO.

LayerPurposeHow to use it

Extracted officer and financial fieldsOrganise information from available materialCheck the reporting period and underlying document for important figures

What happens after you order

Start on the matching company profile and choose the report option. Ourreport page lists the individual price as €14.99 and the normal delivery window as 10 minutes to 3 hours. After payment, the confirmation page can show that the report is being prepared; when ready, it provides a PDF download. The normal delivery workflow also sends the report link by email.

During preparation, the system attempts to obtain the latest accessible B1 material and extract information when a usable document is available. It then assembles the company record with available officers, financial information and filing entries. Source retrieval or extraction can be incomplete, so a successful purchase must not be interpreted as a promise that every historical document or every possible financial field exists.

What to review first in the PDF

First confirm the legal name and CRO number. Then check the report date, the filing dates and the financial period attached to any figures. These dates answer different questions. A PDF generated today may describe accounts for an earlier period; its generation date does not make those accounts a real-time picture of cash or trading.

Our preparation workflow brings together available officer information, financial highlights and recent submissions. It is a consolidated review, not a certified register extract or a complete historical document bundle. If you need one specific return, appointment notice or certificate, record that requirement and obtain the relevant source separately where necessary.

Why financial information can be missing

Not all companies disclose the same level of information. The CRO's financial-statements guidance explains different requirements and exemptions, including that financial statements are not attached to the first annual return. Availability also depends on which documents can be accessed and what can be extracted.

A missing value is not zero. No extracted turnover figure does not mean no sales; no extracted profit figure does not mean a loss. Keep unknowns explicitly marked in your own working notes. If a decision depends on current information that the public record cannot provide, ask the company for appropriate evidence or obtain professional assistance.

How to interpret AI-assisted analysis

Our report-generation process can produce an AI-assisted summary, trust verdict and risk indicator from the material available. These are heuristic interpretations. They can be incomplete or mistaken and are not an official credit-bureau score, an audit opinion or advice to approve a loan, investment or supplier relationship.

Use a highlighted issue to formulate a question, then look for evidence. If an interpretation seems inconsistent with the underlying figures, prioritise the source and the relevant professional review. Our guide to company reports versus credit reports explains why specialist credit products and a public-record summary serve different purposes.

A simple review process for a buyer or professional

  1. Write the decision: are you confirming identity, reviewing a supplier, setting payment terms or investigating a specific filing? Keep that question at the top of your notes.
  2. Match the company: compare the report's legal name and CRO number with the proposed contract or invoice.
  3. Record the periods: distinguish report generation, filing dates and financial year-end dates.
  4. Separate knowns from gaps: note which facts are present, which figures need source checking and which questions remain unanswered.
  5. Agree follow-up: name the evidence, explanation or professional review needed before the decision can be finalised.

This is a review method, not a scoring formula. An illustrative supplier enquiry might end with a request for a current insurance certificate and an explanation of the payment schedule. Those documents do not appear automatically because you bought a company report. Use our guide to reading an Irish company report for more help with the record itself.

When to use CORE or another source instead

Visit CRO CORE when you need the official company record or a particular official document. A Businesses.ie report is not an incorporation certificate, tax-clearance confirmation, VAT validation or sector-specific licence. Choose the source that answers the requirement rather than treating one company PDF as every check completed.

Specialist credit data, current management accounts, references and legal advice may also be needed depending on the transaction. Our service can organise a useful part of the review, but no public-source report can guarantee that a company will perform a contract or pay an invoice.

Getting help with an order or a possible error

If the stated normal delivery window has passed, contact us rather than placing the same order again solely because the PDF has not appeared. Include the ordering email, company number and purchase reference where available. Do not send payment-card details. Ourcontact page provides the support route.

For a correction, point to the affected field and provide the supporting source or document date. That makes the discrepancy actionable. Report preparation, source freshness and company behaviour are separate issues; describe the one you observed so the appropriate check can be made.

Sources and editorial review

Reviewed on 7 October 2026 by the Businesses.ie Editorial Team against the current report page, payment-confirmation flow and report-generation implementation. This explains our own paid service, not an independent endorsement. The CRO financial-statements guidance and CORE are linked above. Our editorial policy and data methodology sets out the separation between official information and analysis. See how to use Businesses.ie for the search workflow, and confirm current terms before ordering.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is a Businesses.ie report an official CRO certificate?
No. It is an independent PDF organising available company information. Use CRO CORE for an official certificate or the specific source filing you need.
Does the report guarantee complete historical coverage?
No. Source access, extraction and the available dataset affect coverage. The report is not a complete historical document archive and financial information may be unavailable.
Is the AI-assisted risk indicator a regulated credit score?
No. AI-assisted summaries, verdicts and risk indicators are heuristic interpretations, not official credit-bureau scores or legal, investment or lending advice.
Does a missing financial figure mean zero?
No. A field may be unavailable because it was not disclosed, could not be accessed or was not extracted. Do not substitute zero for an unknown value.
What should I do if my report has not arrived?
Check the stated normal delivery window and contact Businesses.ie with the ordering email, company number and purchase reference where available. Do not send payment-card details or duplicate the order solely because delivery is delayed.
